Offered is a truly beautiful baseball cabinet photograph. Identified on the mount as the 1878 METEORS baseball team of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, this displays incredible clarity, the photograph pictures ten players all of whom are identified on the mount wearing period bib uniforms, high top shoes, bow ties, pill hats and most significantly a player holding a period lemon peel baseball and another player holding what is most certainly one of the first manifestations of a catchers mask (they had only just been patented by Harvard baseball player Frederick Thayer earlier that year). There are condition issues on the edges, the total size is 12x10. This is very likely a one-of-a-kind or near such piece.
