1888 Heinz Sweet Pickles Lot of 17 assorted cards

Sold Price: $400.00
Heinz Sweet Pickles trade cards were colorful advertising premiums distributed by the H.J. Heinz Company during the late nineteenth century, primarily in the 1880s and 1890s, and today stand among the most charming and visually recognizable pieces of Victorian-era advertising ephemera. Issued to promote Heinz?s expanding line of pickled products and condiments, the cards blended elaborate artwork, whimsical themes, and sophisticated chromolithography with emerging national-brand marketing strategies. The cards were generally distributed through grocers and general stores, often handed out to customers as promotional keepsakes. Their small size and attractive imagery made them highly collectible even in their own time, particularly among children and scrapbook hobbyists. As a result, surviving examples are frequently found with scrapbook residue, trimming, album damage, or corner wear. The offered cards appear to be low to mid-grade overall, they retain good display value and are utterly charming!
