Presented is an eye-catching 1935 Ford Motor Company radio broadcast advertisement for that season?s upcoming World Series between the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago Cubs. The poster features black & white photographs of ten Tiger stars, each of whom had a fine season. The ?35 Tigers were loaded for bear, or sadly for Chicago fans, Cubs. The top of the advertisement poster reads, ?Ford BROADCASTS of the World?s Series?. Across the top of the poster, left to right, are four photos: Charlie Gehringer, Hall of Fame second baseman who hit .330 in ?35, with 123 runs and 108 RBIs; Goose Goslin, Hall of Fame outfielder who hit .292 that year, with 111 RBIs; Elden Auker, pitcher with a 18-7 record; Hank Greenberg, Hall of Fame first baseman who had a monster season, batting .328, with an AL leading 36 home runs, and a league leading 168 RBIs. In the middle of the poster is Hall of Fame catcher, player-manager Mickey Cochrane, who batted .319 that year. To the left of Cochrane is pitcher Schoolboy Rowe, 19-13; Under Rowe is pitcher Tommy Bridges, 21-10; below Cochrane is outfielder Pete Fox, who hit .321, with 111 RBIs; to the right of Fox is pitcher General Crowder, 16-13. What a powerhouse! The Tigers won the World Series, 4-2 in games, to become the ?35 World Champions. The poster?s visible measurement is 22.25 x 35.4?, framed to 24 x 37?. The poster is in EXCELLENT condition.
