Listing Details

A nice Lincoln item, this is a letter written to President Lincoln on June 8th, 1861 requesting a Pay Master appointment. The letter goes into much detail and measures approximately 7x9, the condition is quite clean. Lincoln agreed to the request, and neatly penned seven lines of text on the left side of the document.

Lincoln wrote as follows: "It must not be long till Mr. Thomasson, named within, is appointed a Pay-Master, A. Lincoln June 8, 1861".

It is very interesting that this was handled so quickly in the midst of the Civil War! The Lincoln signature and writing is flawless, the signature is particularly bold and fine. A world historical figure, his autograph seems profoundly undervalued in today's market. Nicely matted and framed, the total size is 14.5 x 13. JSA LOA (full).
