Listing Details

Christy Mathewson was one of the very finest players in all of baseball history. A legend in his own time and since his death in 1925 at only age 45, his autograph is revered by collectors. One of the most important of all baseball Hall of Fame autographs, Mathewson's signature is profoundly rare on a baseball. Remarkably, the offered ball is a single signed model! The ball itself is a moderately worn ONL Tener Official Ball with multi-colored stitching. Likely signed in the 1920s, Christy Mathewson was President of the Boston Braves at this time. The ball itself was likely a game ball, it has a burnished period look and feel. Matty signed this at the top of one side panel. This is an interesting autograph: The C and sty in Mathewson are fairly bold, as well as the athewson in Mathewson. Clearly identifiable, who wants to add a truly rare, great and important single signed baseball to bring their collection to the next level? This comes with full LOAs from both JSA and PSA. JSA LOA (full).
